Summary
Askthesafetyman.com provides employers the ability to remain in compliance with OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.178 by providing the minimum forklift & powered industrial truck knowledge and skills evaluation, every three years, as required in the OSHA code. This program works well for employers with a large number of forklift & powered industrial truck operators who work on the equipment frequently. Our certified instructors will perform the operator's knowledge and skills evaluation at the employer's site. Your forklift & powered industrial truck operators will be given a written exam which serves to validate their knowledge of proper / safe forklift & powered industrial truck equipment operation. Passing score of 70% is required for this portion of the evaluation. Once the operators have passed the written exam and their knowledge has been evaluated and verified, the instructor will perform the skills evaluation on each piece of equipment the operator is currently certified to operate.
All forklift & powered industrial truck operators who successfully passed both the knowledge and skills evaluations will be issued a Knowledge and Skills Evaluation certificate and license. While this program works very well to save time and money employers must keep in mind that operators who do not pass any portion of the evaluation will not receive recertification. No refunds or discounts are provided for operators who do not pass the forklift & powered industrial truck evaluation.
Minimum attendance required is 5 operators; otherwise a $100 additional fee will apply. Employer is required to make all required equipment and space available to conduct the knowledge and skills reviews. Employer receives the original copies of all written knowledge and skills evaluation documentation for incorporation into the facilities training records.
The BASIC Knowledge and Skills Evaluations program time varies and is dependent upon the amount of time the operator requires to complete the written exam, the number of different types of equipment the operator requires evaluation on and the number of operators in the evaluation program.
For larger groups, our instructors will divide the evaluation certification candidates into smaller groups to permit better workforce scheduling while evaluations are being conducted. Thereby allowing for better operations management and scheduling while evaluations are being conducted.
