EU Coordination of Influenza A(H1N1)
Following human cases of Influenza A(H1N1) notified to WHO by the US and Mexico, DG SANCO is leading the EU coordination under the framework of the Communicable disease decision 2119/98 through the Community Early Warning and Response System (EWRS), under which EU Member States are required to notify measures they propose to take, measures and guidance issued, and any confirmed cases.
Interim measures recommended are basically the same as for responses to pandemic influenza. For more information, see:

In the temperate regions* of the northern hemisphere, influenza activity remains widely variable. In North America, the United States is reporting increases in influenza-like-illness activity above the seasonal baseline, notably in the southern, southeastern, and parts of the northeastern United States.
